Halloween & Hibernation

 A special thank you to the families that attended our 'Families Being Involved' pumpkin carving event at MAES!

This week our theme was “Halloween”.  The children finger-painted jack-o-lanterns, made spider headbands, glitter bats & spider handprints.  We continued learning about the letter Jj and enjoyed a story read by the first grade students.  We ended the week with our ‘Halloween Party’ where we carved a pumpkin, went trick-or-treating in our classroom and played games all while dressed up in our awesome Halloween costumes!

Next week our theme will be “Hibernation & Migration”.  The children will be making raccoons, Canadian geese, turtles and a bear book.  We will learn what hibernation & migration means and talk about what animals do in the winter.  The children will make a classroom book about what they like to do during the fall and we will begin learning the numbers 1 & 2.  We will also continue to work on name printing and our letter for the week will be Mm.

 Reminders & Updates:                                    

*Remember to have your child practice getting their jackets and mittens on by themselves so they are able to get dressed for recess at school.

*No School: Friday, Oct. 26^th

*Early Release Day: Tuesday, Nov. 6^th.

*Thanksgiving Vacation: No School Nov. 21^st–23^rd.

*Pre-K Christmas Programs will be on Wednesday, Dec. 19^th or Thursday, Dec. 20^th.  Both programs will be held in the library at 9:30 with cookies and punch to follow in our classroom.  You are welcome to take your child home at any time after the program.  This is a very special day for your child so please make plans to attend.

Halloween

For the next two weeks our theme will be “Halloween”.  During this time we will make jack-o-lantern windsocks, ghost feet, pumpkins, glitter bats, a painting with cookie cutters, & spider hands.  We will continue to work on name printing, matching, cutting and counting. Our letter for these two weeks will be Jj!

On Wed. & Thurs. of next week we will have our Halloween Party!  The children will help me scoop out and carve a pumpkin, play games and trick-or-treat in the classroom!  Remember that your child should bring their costume to school that day.  It would be a good idea to have them practice getting their costume on at home so they are able to get dressed easily at school.  Be sure to write your child’s name on his/her bag of treats to be handed out during the party to avoid confusion.

 Reminders & Updates:                                    

*Halloween party: Oct. 45^th or 25^th.  Please remember that all treats must be wrapped (we will not have time to eat everything), you child should be able to put their costume on over their clothes (by themselves) and no weapons or face paint are allowed.

*No School: Friday, Oct. 26^th.

*Early Release: Tuesday, Nov. 6^th.  Please be sure to send a note if your child needs to go somewhere other then their normal drop off point.

Fall Leaves & Halloween

This week our theme was “Fall & Leaves”.  We learned about the letter Ll, made a leaf book, used watercolor paints to make a leaf and painted an acorn.  The children also made fall trees, a pumpkin booklet and created a page for our first classroom book about Having Fun In Fall.  Your child has brought a fall memory game home, which they can cut out and play with you over the weekend!

Next week our theme will be “Halloween”.  There is no school on Monday due to parent teacher conferences.  (On Wednesday I will send home some of the things the children will have missed).  This week we will be making a jack-o-lantern windsock, ghost feet, glitter bats, a cookie cutter painting and spider hands!  We will continue to work on name printing, matching, shapes, following directions, cutting and counting.  Our letter for the week will be Jj.

 Reminders & Updates:                     

*P/T Conferences Oct 15^th: Each conference is only 10 minutes long; please do your best to be on time and remember you do not need to bring your child.  Feel free to choose an apple from our Giving Tree as a way to help provide some of the necessary materials to complete our craft projects at school.

The PTO will also have the Book Fair set up in the library so be sure to check it out!

*Book Orders: Due Oct. 16^th or 17^th (You can also place your order online).

*If you have a pumpkin you would like to donate to our classroom please bring it in any time before our party.  

*Halloween Party: Oct. 24^th OR 25^th Your child should bring a costume to be put on over their clothing.  You can also send wrapped treats to be handed out when we go ‘trick-or-treating’ in our classroom!

*No School: Oct. 26^th

Fire Safety & Fall Leaves

This week our theme was “Fire Safety”.  We made a fire safety book, painted a Dalmatian, made a fire scene and talked about what to do incase of a fire.  The Stetsonville Fire Chief also came to visit us and talked to the children about the tools firemen use and what to do in an emergency.  We got to see the fire engine and learned how to STOP, DROP & ROLL!  Our letter for the week was Ff.  

Next week our theme will be “Fall & Leaves’.  The children will be making a watercolor leaf, acorn, leaf booklet, fall trees and a pumpkin book.  The children will also bring home a fall memory game, which they can make & play with you!  We will even make a page for our first classroom book called Having Fun In Fall.  We will continue to work on shapes, colors, matching and counting.  Our letter for the week will be Ll.

 Reminders & Updates:                                    

*P/T Conferences: Oct 15^th -please return your confirmation slip!  Each conference is only 10 minutes long as I have a lot of families to meet with; please remember to be on time.  You child need not attend. 

*There will be a ‘Giving Tree’ set up at conferences, please choose an apple from the tree and send the item to school with your child when you can.  This is a way to help provide the children with materials needed for projects.

*Family Ghost Projects: Due Oct. 10^th or 11^th.

*If you have a pumpkin you would like to donate to our classroom please bring it in any time before our party.  (More information will be sent home regarding the party next week).

*Pumpkin Carving FBI Event: permission slips due Oct. 8^th or 9^th

*Child Development Day: There is no class for Pre-K on Thursday, Oct. 18^thas I have to work at CDD.
