Ocean

This week our theme was “Oceans”.  We will make a scuba diver & jellyfish.  We continued to work on placing the numbers 1-10 in order, rhyming, colors & shapes.  We will continue to work at finishing up our testing before the end of the school year.


Next week our theme will continue to be “Oceans”.  We will make a starfish, ocean photo album, giant fish book and a classroom book about our favorite ocean animal.  We continued to work on fine motor skills as the children used beads to create their very own bracelet.  The children will also have a substitute teacher in the classroom on Wednesday & Thursday as I will be proctoring the PALS test to each student.

*Transportation Field Trip: May 5th & 6th - WEAR OLD CLOTHES!

Spring & Easter (Week 2)

 Happy Easter!

This week our theme was ‘Spring & Easter’. The children made bunny headbands, a chick hatching from an egg and journaled about their Easter basket.  We practiced placing the numbers 1-10 in order and learned about the letter Ee.  On Wednesday & Thursday the students enjoyed an egg hunt so be sure to ask them what they found!
 
Next week our theme will be ‘Oceans’.  There is no school for students on Monday.  We will make a scuba diver, submarine porthole and a jellyfish.  We will continue to practice placing the numbers 1-10 in numerical order and will review shapes, colors, patterns & rhyming. 

  Reminders & Updates:                                
*No School/Easter Vacation: Friday, April 18th & Monday, April 21st.
*Spring Picture Day: Wed., April 23rd (if your child does not
attend school that day and you wish to have their picture taken you will need to bring them to school).

*Your child will complete the spring session of PALS testing on either Wednesday, April 30th or Thursday, May 1st.  This state testing will show me the growth and progress your child has made throughout the school year in the area of literacy.  Please make every effort to have your child here so that the testing can be completed.

Spring & Easter (Week 1)

This week our theme was ‘Spring & Easter’.  The children made chick windsocks, pussy willow vases & used watercolor paint to make an Easter egg.  We also celebrated the Week of the Young Child with many fun activities and events!  Our letter for the week was Bb and we reviewed the numbers 9 & 10. 

Next week our theme will continue to be ‘Spring & Easter’.  The children will be making bunny headbands, spring flowers, a chick hatching from an egg and a classroom book about their Easter baskets.  We will practice placing the numbers in order 1-10 and our letter for the week will be Ee.

*Early Release Day: Thursday, April 17th (remember to send a
note if your child should go somewhere other than their normal destination).
*No School/Easter Vacation: Friday, April 18th & Monday, April 21st.
*Spring Picture Day: Wed., April 23rd (if your child does not
attend school that day and you wish to have their picture taken you will need to bring them to school).


*As spring weather approaches (hopefully) please keep an eye on the weather each day and be sure that your child is dressed appropriately.  We will continue to have recess outside even as the snow begins to melt and you should continue to send snow pants until the snow is all gone.

Pets

This week our theme was ‘Pets’.  We discussed how to take care of our pets and on Wednesday & Thursday our classes took a field trip to the Medford Veterinarian Clinic (check out the photos by clicking the "Vet Clinic Trip" tab at the top of the page).  We also made a fish, a pattern snake and learned about how pets change and grow.  Our letter for the week was Xx and we reviewed the numbers 7 & 8.
 Next week our theme will be the ‘Spring & Easter’.  The children will be making chick windsocks, pussy willow vases & using watercolor paint to make an Easter egg.  On Wednesday & Thursday our school district has planned a program for the children to help celebrate Week of the Young Child.  We will be heading to MAES for the show and on Thursday, April 10th you are welcome to join us for a potluck dinner and dance!   Our letter for the week will be Bb and we will review the numbers 9 & 10.
