Spring Flowers & Seeds

This week our theme was “Spring Flowers & Seeds”.  We learned about spring and the children made tissue paper flowers and used finger paint to create spring flowers.  We learned about how a seed grows into a plant and what a plant needs to live.  Our letter for the week was Uu and we reviewed the numbers 5 & 6.  Please practice number recognition with your child at home if they are still struggling to identify the numbers when shown in random order.

Next week our theme will be ‘Pets’.  (We have no school on Monday due to Inservice).  We will discuss how animals grow, how to take care of our pets and what kinds of animal’s people keep as pets.  We will be making a pattern snake and painting a fish.  On Wednesday and Thursday our classes will be taking a field trip to the Medford Veterinarian Clinic.  Our letter for the week will be Xx and we will review the numbers 7 & 8.

*When time allows we will visit the library to check out books on Wed/Thurs so if your child returns their book they can get a new one before the weekend!

Zoo

This week our theme was the “Zoo”.  We learned about a variety of zoo animals and the children made a giraffe, tiger, monkey and a zebra.  The children also created a classroom book about what animals they might see at the zoo.  We worked on putting the numbers in order 1-10 and we used our sense of hearing to play an animal sounds game. We reviewed the numbers 3 & 4 and our letter for the week was Zz.

St. Patrick's Day

This week our theme was “St. Patrick’s Day”.  The children made leprechauns, pots of gold & rainbows.  We also worked on number identification, same vs. different, rhyming and name printing.  Our letter for the week was Qq and we reviewed the numbers 1 & 2.

Arctic Animals

This week our theme was “Arctic Animals”.  The children made a polar bear and a penguin.  We continued to work on name printing, counting, number identification, matching and sequencing.  Our letter for the week was Pp. 

Next week our theme will be “St. Patrick’s Day”.  The children will make leprechauns, pots of gold & rainbows.  We will also work on number identification, quantities, same vs. different and rhyming.  Our letter for the week will be Qq and we will review the numbers 1 & 2.

As your child shares the work they’ve done at school and completes homework with you, please take note of any skills that they may be struggling with.  Additional practice of those skills at home will help them to learn and retain what are working on at school.
