Christmas

Our theme continued to be “Christmas” this week.  We played Christmas games, laced a candy cane, made a snowman, painted a winter scene and made an ornament.  Next week on the 22nd & 23rd each class will have a Christmas party right away in the morning (please be sure your child has brought a gift so they can participate in the gift exchange).  Our Christmas program will be held in the library at 9:30.  Thank you in advance for helping us make this a special day!  After the program you are invited back to the classroom for cookies, punch and a special Christmas surprise!  You are welcome to take your child home at any time following the program.  You child will need their backpacks but not their snow pants/outside gear.

When we come back from vacation on Jan. 5th our theme will be “Winter Clothes”.  Your child’s completed winter hat (upcoming family project) will be added to a classroom book that will be shared with each family.  We will also work on sorting, counting, colors, matching and graphing.  Our letter for the week will be Ww and we will learn about the number 6.

 Reminders & Updates:
*Christmas Vacation:  No school Dec. 24th-Jan. 2nd.
*After the Christmas festivities die down please remember that your child can access the Reading Eggs program (if you have the Internet available to you) from home.  You can also use this time at home to review and practice any of the Pre-K skills your child may be struggling with.
*The due date for the family hat project in JANUARY 5th & 6th (not December)...sorry for the mix-up!

*Wash & return your child’s nap bedding after break.

Christmas

This week our theme was “Christmas”.  The children made reindeer, Christmas lights and worked on some special projects in preparation for your visit on the 22nd/23rd!  We also continued to work on counting, name printing, number identification, patterns and singing Christmas songs!  Our letter for the week was Ii.

Over the next 2 weeks our theme will continue be “Christmas”.  We will be playing Christmas games, lacing a candy cane, making a snowman, painting a winter scene and making an ornament.  Our week will be filled with Christmas program preparation!  Then on the 22nd & 23rd each class will have a Christmas party right away in the morning (please be sure your child has brought a gift so they can participate in the gift exchange).  Our Christmas program will be held in the library at 9:30.  The children are REALLY excited and looking forward to your visit.  Thank you for helping us make this a special day!  After the program you are invited back to the classroom for cookies, punch and a special Christmas surprise!  You are welcome to take your child home at any time following the program.  (If your child will be going home with you they do not need to bring boots or snow pants, as we will not be going outside before the program.  However, they will still need to bring their backpacks, as we will have a lot to bring home before Christmas vacation).

 Reminders & Updates:

*Christmas Program:  If for some reason you can not attend the
program PLEASE let me know as I do not want your child to be
sitting here by themselves while everyone else enjoys the
festivities.  If I know ahead of time I can make arrangements for
one of our assistants to join your child.  I can not stress enough
what an important day this is to your child so please make every
effort to have someone here for them!
*Christmas Vacation:  No school Dec. 24th-Jan. 2nd.
*Remember to send warm/insulated winter mittens to
school so your child has warm, dry hands for each recess.  (Finger

mittens are not enough at this time of year).

Christmas Trees & Cookies

This week our theme was “Christmas Trees & Cookies”.  The children made a shape-cookie book, finger-painted a Christmas wreath and created a gingerbread man.  We also worked on counting, 1-to-1 correspondence and we practiced our Christmas songs!  We learned about the number 5 and our letter for the week was Cc.

Next week our theme will be “Christmas”.  The children will be working on a variety of Christmas projects this week…most of them are a secret so you will just have to wait and see what we’re up to!  I can mention that we will be making reindeer and Christmas lights.  We will also continue to work on counting, number identification and singing Christmas songs!  Our letter for the week will be Ii.

 Reminders & Updates:
*Now that your child is in school it’s a good idea to schedule an eye exam if an eye doctor has not yet seen your child.  Many vision problems go undetected in young children leading to difficulty in school.
*Gift Exchange:  Your child should bring a $5.00 gift before our party on Dec. 22nd/23rd.  Feel free to send your gifts in at any time so we can place them under our tree!
*Christmas Programs: Held in the library at 9:30 on Dec. 22nd or Dec. 23rd.  This is a very important day for your child so please make every effort to attend.  All relatives are welcome, the more the merrier!  You are invited to our classroom after the program for cookies and punch and can take your child home with you at any time.  Please return your permission slips as soon as possible.

*Your child SHOULD bring their backpack on the date of the x-mas program but will NOT need snow pants or boots, as we will not be going outside and they will be going home early.
