Nursery Rhymes & Rhyming

This week our theme was “Nursery Rhymes & Rhyming”.  We learned about rhyming words and played a lot of rhyming games (keep practicing at home too)!  The children also made a picture of Humpty Dumpty & created a garden for Mary Mary Quite Contrary.  Our letter for the week was Nn and we reviewed the number 3.

Next week our theme will be “Dr. Seuss & Rhyming”.  We will continue to work with rhyming words as we read Dr. Seuss books.  The children will make the Cat in the Hat, paint a One-Fish Two-Fish fish bowl, make Cat hats and play a variety of rhyming games.  Our letter for the week will be Rr and we will review the number 4.

Arctic Animals

This week our theme was “Arctic Animals”.  The children made a polar bear, penguin and a walrus puppet.  We continued to work on name printing, counting, number identification, matching and sequencing.  Our letter for the week was Pp and we reviewed the number 2.

Next week our theme will be “Nursery Rhymes & Rhyming”.  We will learn about rhyming words and play a lot of rhyming games (it would be good to practice rhyming at home over the weekend as well).  The children will hear a variety of nursery rhymes and make a picture of Humpty Dumpty and create a garden for Mary Mary Quite Contrary!  Our letter for the week will be Nn and we will review the number 3.

As your child shares the work they’ve done at school and completes homework with you, please take note of any skills that they may be struggling with.  Additional practice of those skills at home will help them to learn and retain what are working on at school.
